
Michael Hottois(1946 -- 2022)
Michael Hottois, a current SIW member, died locally on May 22nd. Michael was an active member of SIW, and had planned to ride the Three Steeples ride. Michael regularly attended club rides, and he had completed almost 2000 miles in the 2021-2022 riding year. Michael most recently captained the Saturday afternoon rides at River Ridge, and he previously captained the tough 'Corydon Climbs' ride from Scribner School in New Albany. Michael served SIW as the statistician in 2007, and as Vice President of Touring in 2015-2016. He also volunteered regularly at the Harvest Homecoming Bicycle Tour, often serving breakfast to hungry riders. Michael earned the Around the World trophy, and he logged over 40,000 miles in his SIW career. His family notes that Michael considered SIW as 'family', and that he cherished the time he spent riding with SIW. Those who rode with Michael could say the same about him. Michael earned numerous awards, including the Around the World award and over 40,000 miles in his SIW career.

Always the stastician, Michael kept meticulous records on his calendar, documenting his 'Tour de Michael'.

Michael served as Stastician in 2007. He also served as VP-Touring in 2015-2016.

Michael regularly served breakfast at HHBT, and pitched in wherever needed.

Michael was a tenacious rider who logged over 40,000 miles in his SIW career.
